Make It-Take It is a program aimed at providing technology in the homes of those students in our communities who do not have access to technology except in school. The program collects computers from the community and teaches students how to use and refurbish them. Students have to completely strip the computers down and rebuild and upgrade them. After achieving this, the students are given the refurbished computers to keep as their own. The Make It-Take It program has donated some of these refurbished computers to Youth of the Year entrants over the past four years. This year the winner received an Apple Wireless laptop and the two runners up received an Apple Desktop computer. This is a tradition that MITI hopes to continue through the years. The MITI program has recently purchased a state-of-the-art mobile technology center, sponsored by Brighthouse Networks. The MITI bus will enable the program to be accessed by students in outreach areas, including The Boy’s and Girl Club in Flagler County.
